Varieties: Arinto dos Açores Concept: On this island, vines have been planted in the crevices of volcanic rock, a few meters from the sea, for over 500 years. But even earlier, in 1465, came the Utras, a corruption of the name Joss Hurtere, a Fleming who was Captain Donatary of Pico and Faial, instrumental in the development of wine and vineyards on these islands. We inherited the legacy of one of these vineyards from the Utras lineage, a small plot in Criação Velha that borders the sea, in the "1os Jeirões," a location with maximum sun exposure and concentration.
