Varieties: Arinto dos Açores Concept: On this island, vines have been planted for over 500 years in the crevices of volcanic rock, a few meters from the sea. But even earlier, in 1465, came the Utras, a corruption of the name Joss Hurtere, a Fleming who was Captain Donatary of Pico and Faial, instrumental in the development of wine and vineyards on these islands. We inherited the legacy of one of these vineyards, still descended from the Utras, a small plot in Criação Velha that borders the sea, in the "1os Jeirões," a location that receives maximum sun exposure and concentration.
